Access to Unspoiled Areas

This extraordinary Renmark to border river section has multiple creeks and lagoons that provide

  • route choices,
  • navigational challenges,
  • contingencies,
  • history story-telling, and
  • environmental experiences.

Ral Ral Creek

Our unique river frontage position allows ring routes from our easy onsite launchsite. The complex of sheltered creeks & lagoons suit all year levels whether camping onsite or using free island campsites en-route.

Chowilla

An old favourite, steeped in history and perfect for experienced students.

The area between Renmark and Chowilla provides multiple routes via creeks and around weirs so your route can be tailored and adapted to suit the prevailing conditions and the ability of your group.

Please feel free to call us for more information.

Safety

The Ral Ral area has reliable Telstra Blue-tick phone coverage and we provide on-call assistance. We have the ability to use our dinghy to provide assistance.

Risk assessments, emergency plans and WHS policies are developed, followed and reviewed.

Phone coverage of the Chowilla area has recently been substantially upgraded. Note that you are required to lodge your school’s route plan with National Parks.

In the case of thunderstorms during your camp, we have a large shelter shed.

Facilities

Canoe the Riverland’s riverfront property provides onsite parking which saves time and delivery costs. Round trips eliminate the need for vehicle-shuffling and punctual rendezvous.

We have a grassed camping area for hire which includes a BBQ, fire pit, full kitchen, power, toilets, showers and change-room.

We also deliver to other start points and provide vehicle shuttles

Qualified Instructors

Onsite guides Jim & Ruth Roberts are Accredited Flatwater Instructors through Paddle Australia, as are all our instructors.

We ensure that first aid, teaching qualifications, training and police clearances remain current for all our guides and that staff to student ratios are maintained.

Local Knowledge

We are passionate about sharing the local history and understanding of our natural environment.

We provide up-to-date advice on weather & river conditions.

Ask us about the detailed maps of Ral Ral Creek and Chowilla that we produce and update.

Quality Equipment

All our canoes and kayaks, which can cater for over 100 paddlers, are specifically designed for touring the river and creeks. Our kayaks (mainly Contour 450s) have front & rear hatches and our canoes are spacious.

Hire includes paddles, PFDs & sponges.

Spray decks, split paddles, tow ropes, dry bags and barrels are also available.
