Testimonials
“Ruth and Jim are lovely hosts, we had a nice weekend in the Captains Cottage that is only a 300m walk to the River Murray.
Unfortunately we didn’t have the time to take the kayaks out to explore more but the location is perfect!
The cottage itself is comfortable, the bathroom, albeit outside the main living and bedroom areas is well appointed and the fire pit is an absolute must! our daughter loved the toasted marshmallows!!”

“Thanks a lot for providing us cozy wonderful cottage. Would recommend it to anybody looking for a place spending time quietly.
Loved the fact that hosts were very friendly and welcoming as it made us feel like home.
Canoeing was the best part of our journey.”

“What a great place to unwind. My family of four loved our two night stay at Captains Cottage. Very comfortable cottage with plenty of room, comfortable beds (even the sofa bed) and a great kitchen and bathroom and while they are separate to the main house they are very close and having them separate adds to the experience.
The included kayak hire is great. There are 2 loops which include back water channels and the main river. We did both the shorter ~1hr loop and the longer ~2hr loop which took us closer to 2.5hrs at a very leisurely pace. Both are very scenic with plenty of bird life.
The front deck is a great place to sit at the end of a day kayaking. The late check-out is fantastic (and rare). Overall we all had a great couple of days staying at the Captains Cottage”
